 McLean
ISD Groundbreaking Ceremony
The McLean ISD Groundbreaking Ceremony was held Wednesday,
February 6, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Jimmy Hannon, Superintendent of
Schools, presided over the event. This project is a result of a
$3M bond issue passed last May; the first bond that has been
passed in the district in over 50 years. The bond will fund the
majority of the project and fund balance is designated for the
remainder.
 The
new building will replace the 80+ year old high school. At this
time the JH will remain in the existing elementary/junior high
building which will undergo an abatement and renovations. This
project will put all 218 students under the same roof and
greatly improve the safety and security of the students. The
main corridor of the new building will be hardened (solid
concrete, top to bottom) to be used in the event of severe
weather.
The projected completion date is March of 2009. |
