RE:                   2006-2007 School Year Appointment Calendar/Directory

In preparation for the 2006-2007 School Year Appointment Calendar/Directory, Region 16 Education Service Center is inviting the schools in your district to share secrets.  The theme for the publication will be Secrets of our Success.

Region 16 ESC would like to have photographs and student artwork that show success along with the secret that caused the success (examples: hard work, caring teachers, dedicated team work, goal setting, good students, etc.) We also welcome quotes from students, educators, board members, staff and students (example:  Wonderful School has the cleanest hallways because our custodians are the greatest, and we all pick up our litterJohn Smith, principal, Goodtown)

It will be helpful if campus principals will give a copy of this letter to art teachers, who

may ask students to draw pictures of success. (Ask students something like: “What do you do that is successful?  Why is it successful?  What does our class (school) do that is successful? Etc.)  Submitted artwork will need to include the typed (or legibly printed) first and last name, grade and school of the student artist and an explaining title/reason (example: Perfect Attendance - trying hard and staying healthy; Passing TAKS - getting enough sleep)  Remember that dark lines reproduce better than pencil and light crayons.  Because of the overwhelming response of student artwork we got last year, we are thoughtfully requesting that each campus submit only its top ten pieces.

Photographs, artwork and quotes will need to be submitted to Lynda Queen by

May 15, 2006 or before school is out.  You may also send email submissions to lynda.queen@esc16.net.  If you have questions, please call Lynda at 677-5429.

We greatly appreciate your taking time during these extremely busy days to help us with this publication, which reflects the outstanding schools and educators in our region.  We consider all of you “wonderful secrets” that need to be told and honored.
