We would like to congratulate ALL 67 Contracting Entities in Region 16 for being approved for 6 Cent Certification, enabling them to receive additional reimbursement funds for following the New Meal Pattern which provides healthier meals for school students.

The purpose of the Child Nutrition Programs is to safeguard the health and well being of the nation's children by providing nutritionally adequate meals each school day. Training and Technical Assistance opportunities for district food service directors and other school administrators include:

Training and assistance in reviews performed by TDA and/or USDA
Training and assistance with the Healthier U.S. School Challenge
Training and assistance in food purchasing and commodity processing
Training and assistance in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) - food safety and sanitation
Training and assistance in implementing a district's Wellness Policy
Maintain current laws, rules and policies affecting the Child Nutrition program
Facilitate the flow of information, concerns and interest among LEAs, ESCs, and TDA
