The purpose of the Child Nutrition Programs is to safeguard the health and well being of the nation's children by providing nutritionally adequate meals each school day. Training and Technical Assistance opportunities for district food service directors and other school administrators include:
  • New Food Service Director Training
  • Training and assistance to all district food service staff.
  • Training and assistance with regard to effective Child Nutrition program management
  • Training and assistance in effective financial management and all other Child Nutrition record keeping requirements
  • Training and assistance in reviews performed by TDA and/or USDA
  • Training and assistance with the School Meal Initiative (SMI)
  • Training and assistance in food purchasing and commodity processing
  • Training and assistance in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) - food safety and sanitation
  • Training and assistance in implementing a district's Wellness Policy
  • Maintain current laws, rules and policies affecting the Child Nutrition program
  • Facilitate the flow of information, concerns and interest among LEAs, ESCs, and TDA
