PEIMS is the acronym for the Public Education Information Management System. The 68th Legislature conceived PEIMS in 1984 by passing House Bill 72 in order to satisfy the public desire for greater accountability in our programs and our schools.

PEIMS is an electronic collection of data, with the standard set of definitions, codes, format, procedures and deadlines. It contains the data necessary for the legislature and TEA to perform their legally authorized functions in overseeing public education.

PEIMS currently collects data 4 times per year. These collections are known as:
  • the Fall Collection (or Submission 1)
  • the Mid-Year Collection (or Submission 2)
  • the Summer Collection (or Submission 3)
  • and the Extended Year Collection (or Submission 4)
