Title I, Part C, Migrant

The Texas State Migrant Education Program is a supplementary program that offers instructional assistance above and beyond the instruction being received from the minimum foundation teacher. The mission of the program is to ensure that migratory children throughout the state of Texas have access to and receive high quality comprehensive programs in order to enable them to meet the same challenging state performance and content standards that all children are expected to meet.

Definitions:
Migratory child: For funding purposes, the term migratory child means a child, ages 3-21, who is, or whose parent, spouse or guardian is, a migratory agricultural worker, or a migratory fisher who in the preceding 36 months has moved from one school district to another to seek or obtain temporary or seasonal employment in fishing or agriculture. NOTE: A child who is below three years of age and was born PRIOR to the qualifying move may be enrolled in the program but will not generate funding until he/she reaches the age of three. A child may generate funding until the age of 21 until he/she graduates from high school or completes a GED. If a high school student’s eligibility expires while in high school, the student can receive services throughout the remainder of his/her high school career even though the student no longer generates funding.
