In this training, Fran Hjalmarson will detail various examples of how parents can become involved in their children’s education. You will learn strategies to increase parent involvement, motivate parents and build capacity of families.  Fran will address working with parents from diverse backgrounds and families of poverty. Participants will leave with ideas and strategies that they can begin to implement in their schools the next day.

Fran Hjalmarson has been an educator for over a decade.  Using innovative and comprehensive approaches as a school counselor, Fran has achieved highly successful results at several schools.  Known to her students simply as "Mrs. H," Fran is committed to supporting the social/emotional needs of her students in a way that facilitates academic success at the same time.  Highly skilled at providing interventions that align with a detailed Response to Intervention model, Fran works with educators across the country in an effort to support a successful school climate for all.
