2017 Fall Kickoff Keynote Speaker

The 2017 Fall Kickoff is excited to welcome Bernard A. Harris Jr., Astronaut and President of the Harris Foundation, as this year’s keynote.  The Harris Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Houston, Texas, whose mission is to invest in community-based initiatives to support education, health and wealth. THF supports programs that empower individuals, in particular minorities and others who are economically and/or socially disadvantaged, to recognize their potential and pursue their dreams.

During the 2017 Fall Kickoff, we will be awarding the 2018 Region 16 Teacher of the Year award.  One secondary and one elementary teacher from our region will be selected to receive this honor.  The winners will then go on to represent Region 16 at the state level.

Texas Teacher of the Year is the highest honor that the State of Texas can bestow upon a teacher. Facilitated by Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Texas Teacher of the Year Program annually recognizes and rewards teachers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching.

At this year’s Fall Kickoff we will be highlighting best practices from schools around the panhandle.  This will be an excellent way to showcase new and innovative ideas from around our area.  We look forward to honoring your great work in front of hundreds of teachers and administrators
