September 6, 2012 Michael L. Williams, Commissioner of Education, communicated the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is planning to submit waiver requests to the U. S. Department of Education (USDE) of certain provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by P.L. 107-110 No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. The waiver requests will be submitted under the NCLB, Section 9401 waiver authority and will give TEA and the state’s over 1,200 LEAs additional flexibility while reducing duplication.
