| Region 16, the state's first Education Service Center, was established January 1, 1966. It is one of 20 education service centers in Texas. Region 16 covers 26 counties, some 25,500 square miles, and it serves 63 school districts with 220 campuses. Region 16 school districts average a daily attendance of approximately 77,000 students. Individual districts range from fewer than 50 to more that 29,000 students. |
