Teaching for Biliteracy
Join us at Region 16 for a full day of professional development. Melody Wharton & Crystal Ramos from the Center for Teaching for Biliteracy will provide educators with the opportunity to review dual language & biliteracy research. During sample biliteracy instruction, participants will engage in elements of a biliteracy unit framework, including the development of academic oral language, reading & writing instruction, content instruction, and the Bridge for transfer between languages.
Participants will receive a copy of the book, Teaching for Biliteracy by Cheryl Urow and Karen Beeman.

Daily Actions for Implementing Effective Content-Based Instruction
In this engaging full-day session, Carlene Thomas will present "Daily Actions for Implementing Effective Content-Based Instruction," outlining practical, high-leverage actions that provide intentional, content-based instruction for teachers of emergent bilingual students and the administrators that support them.
