Driven to Excellence

Our Program
Driven to Excellence is a program through which the Region 16 Education Service Center Accountability & School Improvement Team provides customized professional development, implementation support, and coaching to districts and campuses seeking to improve student outcomes and learning.
For years, our team has focused on building relationships with clients, relationships that put student learning at the center of all that we do. We strive to serve every day with courageous humility, fully understanding that our districts and campuses find success in not needing us some day.
Our program consists of a comprehensive needs assessment, development of a targeted plan of action, aligned professional development, and on-going assistance through implementation support and leadership coaching. The program focuses on continuous improvement, with in-depth data analysis enhancing the process and fostering improved student outcomes.
The Driven to Excellence program is aligned to the Texas Education Agency’s Effective School Framework and Region 16 ESC is able to fully customize the program support based on the individual needs of districts or campuses. The program is designed to focus on essential actions that are proven to support exemplary teaching and learning, with leaders receiving targeted coaching to reach a high level of implementation in designed actions.
The scope of the program spans a minimum of one-full school year, with repetitive cycles (minimum of 2) of training, implementation practice, and coaching, with a minimum of 50-100 hours of on-site support per campus. Program professional development includes accountability training, data analysis, leadership best practices, development of Professional Learning Communities, enhancement or development of high-performing cultures, fostering growth mindsets, action plan design, and other trainings aligned to best practices for continual improvement. Implementation support includes the practice of learned skills, ensuring exemplary performance in application. Coaching includes one-on-one support for district and campus leaders, instructional support for teachers aligned to program implementation, direct coaching for PLC leaders and teams, and targeted support in aligning district and campus systemic operations to improve student outcomes. By partnering with districts, Region 16 ESC supports them in creating sustainable systems of high-quality teaching, learning, engagement, and equity for all students.
Grounded in proven research, the continuous improvement process guides planning outcomes in order to create sustainable systems. The process includes an in-depth analysis of data related to the work, a comprehensive needs assessment, development of an action plan, and ongoing implementation and monitoring. By infusing the continuous improvement process into the organizational culture of districts and campuses, leadership teams are able to tackle the most difficult challenges associated with achieving excellence.
The Driven to Excellence program is designed to be used with all districts and campuses, both those in required improvement and those striving to move from “good to great.”
The program is designed on the extensive, proven research of educational leaders and researchers. Research used in the design includes the work of Victoria L. Bernhardt, Ph.D; Richard Defour; Robert Marzano; McRel International Education Research Organization; Mike Schmoker; and Paul Bambrick-Santoyo.
The Driven to Excellence program relies on measurable student outcomes to ensure the on-going quality of the program
