Panhandle ISD Groundbreaking Ceremonies
Groundbreaking Ceremonies for the Panhandle ISD
Building and Renovation Project took place Saturday, May 3,
2008, at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony was held on the old elementary
school playground where the new elementary building will be
located. The Panhandle Board of Trustees, administration,
several school employees, and community members took part in the
ceremony.
New facilities will include an elementary school, secondary
cafeteria, secondary library, secondary science labs and
computer labs, and a new competition gymnasium. Renovations will
be made to the existing Jr. High and High School buildings, band
hall, art room, and administration building.
The $27.5 M building and renovation project is scheduled for
completion in the fall of 2009. Superintendent Gary Laramore and
Board President Mike Vance presided over the groundbreaking
ceremony.

Landergin Elementary is also nominated for the award this year.
Winners will be announced in the fall by the US Dept. of

E. Eaves is 97 years old and she just completed her GED. She
participated in the March Graduation Ceremony; she is pictured
with Mr. Robin Adkins, Deputy Executive Director, Region
16 ESC, receiving her diploma. |

Doug
Loomis,
principal at Amarillo High School, Amarillo ISD, has been named
the 2007-2008 Administrator of the Year in the
middle/secondary school category by the Texas Classroom
Teachers Association (TCTA). Loomis was nominated by
the Amarillo Classroom Teachers Association, the local
affiliate of the statewide association. He will be honored
March 1st in Houston before more than 500 delegates
to the annual TCTA convention. |
