Domains/Entities Screen - All 4 Levels Should be Sending, Move on to Promote and Validate for Fall PEIMS in TSDS

Thanksgiving graphic

All 4 levels on the Domain/Entities screen in District Administration should be sending at this point.  If this is not true for your district (and we aren't aware) please let us know by entering an ESC16-ASCENDER ticket here.

Fall PEIMS is due December 12.  That leaves just short of 4 weeks to complete this submission (and that includes a short week or off week for THANKSGIVING many districts).

We strongly encourage you to do the following if you are not already doing so:

  1. Confirm that you are sending ALL the domains/entities in Levels 1-3 (DA>Options>TSDS-Domains and Entities Tab).  At the minimum, make sure that the Student Academic Record Domain in Level 4 is being sent.
  2. Continue to review Level 1 errors (3 different ASCENDER software updates occurred the week of 11/11-11/15 that were intended to help with many of the level 1 errors districts are seeing).  We are expecting to receive an additional ASCENDER updates in the coming days.
  3. At this point, we suggest you don't wait to schedule level 2 validations in the DMC rather we encourage you to move to PROMOTE and VALIDATION for Fall PEIMS.
  4. After promotion/validation for Fall PEIMS your Level 3 Validation Report should include ALL relative fatals, specials, and warnings that need to be reviewed.  If you haven't done this step yet or haven't done it yet this week (11/18) please do this to determine an updated list of validation errors. Work on these validation errors.
  5. Review Fall PEIMS reports (ie PDM1-231-002, PDM1-120-009, PDM1-120-012 and other reports).
  6. Let us know what questions you have.  If it is an issue in the TSDS>DMC, validation error report, or a PDM report please submit a TIMS ticket.  If it is a level 1 error, question about District Admin related to TSDS, or a data integrity issue you are questioning please enter an ESC 16 ASCENDER ticket.

Please note:  We will be reviewing tickets (TIMS and ESC 16 ASCENDER tickets) and resolving those that we believe have been resolved with the recent software updates.  If you continue to see the same issue that was reported on the ticket either reopen the ticket or create a new one.

Don't forget about the monthly zoom this week regarding the TSDS Upgrade - TSDS Upgrade Monthly Zoom (Wednesday, 11/20 @ 1:30pm)

As of the ASCENDER 9.0307 update the following Send Schedule will be in place to send data to the iods.

PLEASE NOTE:  This does NOT take the place of the during business hours where you as the TSDS coordinator manually completes an extract and send in District Admin.

To improve the frequency and reliability of TSDS data submissions, the Texas Computer Cooperative (ASCENDER Programming) is implementing changes to the submission schedule. Starting immediately, TSDS data will be scheduled to send via the District Administration application by domain on an hourly basis during the following times:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:15 PM to 4:15 AM the following morning.
  • Saturday – Monday: 5:15 AM (Saturday) to 4:15 AM (Monday)

This adjustment is designed to streamline data processing and ensure timely delivery for all domains.

The Save and Extract & Send Buttons in ASCENDER will be disabled if a job is running as a “scheduled” run per the schedule above. The Save and Extract & Send buttons will function the same as it does now if the end-user clicks the button. It will disable the button and the timer will re-enable after the job process is complete.
