Become a Certified Educator:

Amarillo College partners with Texas Tech University to prepare educators for teaching certification through the Tech Teach 2+1 Amarillo program. Students spend two years at Amarillo College, followed by one year of online classes and student teaching completed in Amarillo. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are guaranteed a job in Amarillo ISD with a $5,000 sign-on incentive.
For over 70 years, GCU has proudly maintained its rich heritage as a teachers’ college, both on campus and online. Our College of Education continues to prepare educators, school administrators and policymakers who strive to deliver quality education and help enrich lives across a variety of academic and community settings.
Lubbock Christian University offers approved programs as follows:
  • Early Childhood Education (EC_6) Certification to teach all subject areas in pre-kindergarten through grade 6
  • Middle School Education - Specialist (Grades 4-8) – Certification to teach grades 4-8 in a particular teaching field.  Teaching field options include math, science, reading/language arts, and social studies.
  • Secondary Education (Grades 7-12) – Certification to teach grades 8-12 in one teaching field.  Teaching field options include business education, technology applications, English language arts, history, life science, mathematics, chemistry, composite science, composite social studies and speech communication.
  • All-level Education (Grades EC-12) – Certification for EC-12 grade art, music, physical education, Spanish or theatre arts. 
The College of Education at Texas Tech University has created an innovative teacher preparation program that meets the unique needs of all our students. In collaboration with school districts and community college partners across Texas, TechTeach, our clinically intensive, competency-based program, is preparing educators who are ready to impact students on their first day in the classroom.
The teacher education program at Texas Woman’s University prepares outstanding professional educators who make a difference in their communities. West Texas A&M University offers a traditional undergraduate program with teacher certification, a graduate program with teacher certification, or an alternative teacher certification program for those who already have a bachelor's degree. All programs are accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and include course work and training, field-based experiences, certification testing, and supervised teaching experience.
