Early Childhood Intervention Services

Here to Help Children and

Families Grow Together

Every child grows and learns at their own pace, but when extra support is needed, you don't have to navigate it alone. Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) provides specialized services for children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays, disabilities, or medical conditions.

We meet your family where you are, delivering care right in your child’s natural environment, whether that’s at home, at daycare, or out in the community. By practicing skills where your child feels most comfortable, we help them build confidence and participate fully in everyday life.

As your child grows, tracking key milestones helps you know what to expect and when to ask for support. Check our developmental guide to see how your child is growing and decide if connecting with Region 16 ECI is right for you.

The ECI Journey

Phase 1: Getting Started
  • Referral: Anyone- a parent, family member, or doctor- can refer a child under the age of 3 if there is a concern about a developmental delay.

  • Intake and Screening: You’ll meet with a team member to learn how ECI works, share your child’s history, and discuss what support your child might need.

  • Evaluation: Our team gathers information by observing how your child performs everyday tasks to determine if they qualify for ECI services.

Phase 2: Your ECI Services
  • Service Plan: Within 45 days of your initial referral, we meet to build your child’s Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and complete the Family Cost Share Agreement.

  • Delivery of Services: Your child begins receiving personalized support tailored directly to your family's goals.

  • Ongoing Reviews and Updates: We continually review your child's progress. Plans can be adjusted, re-evaluated, or revised at any time as your child grows and their needs change.

  • Annual Assessment: We conduct a formal yearly assessment to confirm eligibility, celebrate progress, and update the service plan and agreement for the coming year.

Phase 3: Moving Forward
  • Transition and Graduation: Children graduate from ECI when they turn 3 or when they reach age-appropriate development. To ensure a seamless shift into their next step, planning for this transition begins when your child turns  27 months old.
