W-2 Processing
All programming for the 2025 Form W-2 is complete. Districts may process their W-2s.
Reportable Overtime was covered during the W-2 Processing training and we highly recommend watching the recording if you were unable to attend. Here is the link to the ASCENDER Job Aid regarding Reportable Overtime that was also covered during the training.
The New Reportable Overtime field has been added to the Payroll > Maintenance > Calendar YTD Data > Calendar YTD screen and the field can be edited to update the information as needed. The overtime amount from the Calendar YTD will be reported on Box 14 on Form W-2 labeled OVTM. This meets the guidelines provided by the IRS.
As discussed in the training, please remember that it will be necessary to review all 2025 overtime hours/amounts for all applicable employees and verify and/or update any Reportable Overtime amounts as necessary prior to processing W2s.
1099 Processing
The 1099 forms and files are not ready for 2025 processing at this time.
Districts may begin running reports to review data and make needed adjustments, but the 1099 forms and files are not ready for 2025 processing. The changes are scheduled to be included in an upcoming release (tentatively scheduled for 1/16/26).
Programming for the new IRIS Processing for 1099s is also tentatively scheduled for the same upcoming release.
As a reminder, 1099 information sent to the IRS can be submitted via FIRE or IRIS this year. ASCENDER will allow you to create the file sent to the IRS through either option. We are waiting for an upcoming release for full functionality for IRIS.
1095 Processing
The 1095 forms and files are not ready for 2025 processing at this time. We do not have a tentative release date as of now.
We will send out additional announcements once the updates for 1099s and 1095s have been released.

The ASCENDER Business - New User Check-In sessions are intended for new users. These 45 minute check-ins are intended to provide new users with reminders of upcoming ASCENDER processes and tasks and will allow time for questions and answers.
