Panhandle P-16 Council Update

We had an incredible Panhandle P16 meeting discussing major leaps forward for our students, educators, and community. Here are three game-changing updates you need to know about:

1. WT Region 16 Excellence Initiative We are thrilled to highlight West Texas A&M University's new Region 16 Excellence Initiative. In a major expansion, WT is now offering half-off tuition and mandatory fees to all employees and their dependents at every school district within the Region 16 Education Service Center. This partnership reflects a commitment to caring for the educators and staff who serve our communities every day.

2. Partnering with Storybridge We are excited to announce a new partnership with Storybridge, an amazing organization dedicated to providing books for young students. Region 16 is currently exploring new ways to support their mission and help them reach even more students across the Panhandle, ensuring every child has access to the joy of reading.

3. Expanding AI Training & IT Pathways The P16 Council has officially moved forward with a comprehensive AI Readiness & Governance Initiative designed to support 60 school districts and over 80,000 students. By investing in regional workshops and direct technical assistance, we are building the frameworks needed to use AI responsibly in our schools and businesses.

Additionally, Region 16 was recently awarded the Texas Rural Pathways Network Grant to expand IT pathways. This will help launch our new PRIME (Panhandle Rural Innovation for Meaningful Education) program, serving students in Perryton, Booker, Follett, Canadian, Darrouzett, and beyond.

P-16 will also be supplying food for the upcoming High School Career Fair!

Big things are happening in the Panhandle!
