Along with the training here are some important upcoming dates and other clarification regarding the ASCENDER Data Connect Tool.
What comes next?
- Monday, April 20th @ 3pm Go Live Zoom Prep Meeting (TCC/ASCENDER Staff, ESC 16/IMS Staff, and LEAs) - meet to review timeline and outline duties for enablement. TCC/ASCENDER Staff, ESC 16/IMS Staff, and LEAs will be in attendance for this meeting.
- The Zoom link can be found here.
- Morning of Tuesday, April 21st - District Security Audit User (i.e. TSDS coordinator) adds the appropriate Ed-Fi Sync role(s) to staff.
- Tuesday, April 21st @ 1pm - Go Live on ASCENDER DataConnect Tool for Region 16 districts
- Region 16 IMS staff will work with each district:
- Roles: to confirm Ed-Fi Sync Roles have been added to the appropriate staff
- Run: to ensure a “Run” (extract/send) is started and completed successfully
- Schedule: to setup a schedule task for a run

Several questions were asked regarding whether processes related to The Exchange and Promoting and Validation data for a submission were changing. Please see the note in yellow below (updated slide 95).
ASCENDER DataConnect vs. District Administration Processes
- This document outlines which processes are performed in the ASCENDER DataConnect and which remain in ASCENDER District Administration.
- All ASCENDER District Administration screens will remain available in the system. Districts should adjust security settings (Security Administration - role/permissions on user accounts that have District Administration Access) to these screens as needed to restrict or allow access.
Process Location
Enter Key and Secret ASCENDER DataConnect (already done for 25-26)
Create New Run (Extract/Send) ASCENDER DataConnect
Schedule Automatic Runs (Must create one b/c system no longer does by default) ASCENDER DataConnect
Level 1 Errors Review ASCENDER DataConnect
Extract for Calculated Data ASCENDER District Administration
Budget, Finance, and Payroll Reports ASCENDER District Administration
NOTE: Once the run is complete in the Data Connect tool it is sent to The Exchange. Districts can wait for the automatic push (every 30 minutes) to occur from The Exchange to TEA or they can log into The Exchange>Data Health Check Application and do a manual push.
The processes within TSDS (working/reviewing information in the DMC, and promoting/validating for the submission, running reports, and completing submission) do not change with the move to the ASCENDER Data Connect Tool.
