Important Due Dates and Reminders for January 2024
- PEIMS Fall Resubmission – Due Thursday, January 18, 2024
- PEIMS Midyear Submission – Due Thursday, January 25, 2024
- PEIMS Midyear Resubmission – Due Thursday, February 8, 2024
Important Notes Regarding Midyear PEIMS:
- Districts that import an external auditor’s file into State Reporting need to make sure to review the PEIMS Import External File Report when importing the file into ASCENDER and review any errors.
- Whether “Importing in a file” or “Extracting the data from Finance,” it is important that all districts verify the data for accuracy in the State Reporting application prior to submitting your district’s Midyear PEIMS files.
Last Reminder Regarding Change in Electronic Filing Threshold – Need to Review IRS and SSA Electronic Access
- We have mentioned that there is a significant change that we anticipate will affect all districts in Region 16 regarding how districts will be filing forms. Due to the change, we anticipate that all districts will need to file electronically. This information was discussed on our W-2 Processing and 1099 Processing trainings, as well as sent out in an email on December 19th.
Reminders for Upcoming Deadlines for W-2 and 1099 Forms
- W-2 Forms must be filed electronically (if 10 or more aggregate forms) to the SSA and provided to employees by Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
- 1099-NEC Forms must be filed with the IRS and provided to recipients by Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
- 1099-MISC Forms must be sent to the recipients by Tuesday, January 31, 2024. In very few circumstances, the due date to the recipient may be later, so be sure to check the IRS website to verify. Because we anticipate all districts will now need to file electronically, the due date for electronic submissions to the IRS is Friday, March 31, 2024.
