Important: Updated FAQ on House Bill 2 for Teacher Retention Allotment and Support Staff Retention Allotment

TEA has released an updated FAQ document on August 14th for the Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) and the Support Staff Retention Allotment (SSRA). Please make sure to review this updated FAQ document as some information within it has been changed.

In this updated FAQ document, there are updated answers to several questions as well as additional questions that have been added with responses. Below are a few items that were updated or added in the document, but please be sure to review the entire document.

  • more clarification is provided on what count of teachers will be used to calculate the Teacher Retention Allotment
  • more clarification is provided on how the years of experience will be determined
  • clarification is given on whether instructional planning time counts towards the four hours of daily instruction to qualify a classroom teacher for TRA
  • additional information is provided on how the increased pay can be reflected on the wage statement

It is important to note that there will be a new TSDS data element (YearsTRATeachingExperience) and a new indicator (LEADeterminedEligibility) that will be used for TSDS/PEIMS reporting in the 25-26 year. These two items will be published in the TEDS (Texas Education Data Standards) on September 2, 2025, along with additional guidance for TRA reporting purposes.

As more information is provided by TEA, we will communicate additional details regarding HB 2 changes.

If you have any questions, please submit an ESC-16 ASCENDER ticket.
